Whenever gold is refined by being put in the fire, it is never injured. Have you ever noticed that once gold comes out of the fire it isn’t chipped, dented, or bruised? But rather purified. The purification process is not to harm gold, but it is put in the fire to bring out its best and get rid of its impurities, bringing it to its most refined state. This is exactly how Christ purifies us.
Job 23:10 says, “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” At this point in Job’s story, he had lost everything and his three friends had begun to rebuke him, suggesting that he was in this trial for his sin, but they didn’t know the rest of the story; that God had given Satan permission to sift Job. Job knew that once God tried, or tested, him, that he would come forth pure as gold, uninjured.
Malachi 3:3 says, “And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.” The scripture doesn’t say, “He shall put the silver and gold in, walk away and come back later,” but rather “he shall sit as a refiner and purifier…he shall purify…and purge.” When the Refiner puts you in the fire to cleanse you, he sits there with you, making sure you don’t fall in, making sure you don’t burn, making sure you’re being purified safely. He’s concerned with every detail of the purification process and will ensure that it is done according to His perfect will, that way “after that ye have suffered a while, [he will] make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you” (1 Peter 5:10).
Thank you Jesus for being the master Refiner.
