Desires of Thine Heart

“Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” Psalm 37:4-5

Jesus’ healings are seen all throughout Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. If you’re familiar with these passages, you may notice a trend; almost every time Jesus healed someone He said something to the effect of, “thy faith hath made the whole” (Luke 17:19).

Two stories jump out in my mind when I think about these particular life-changing instances. The first being the woman with the issue of blood. The woman knew that if she could simply touch the hem of Jesus’ garment, she would be healed, and she was (Luke 8:43-48). Second, the centurion who knew that if Jesus merely spoke the words, his servant would be healed, and he was (Luke 7:1-10). In both instances, Jesus marvelled at how great their faith was. Would Jesus marvel at my faith? At yours? Would my faith bring what I’m praying for to pass?

Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Psalm 37: 4 says that if we are faithful to the Lord, He will grant us the desires of our hearts. In attempts not to mislead anyone to misinterpret Scripture, I must say that God is not going to give us everything we want; He is looking out for our good and His glory. We must know that God’s will is perfect. That being said, if our desires will bring Him glory, are in His will, and if we are faithful, He will grant them!

All this being said, I must praise God for granting me the desires of my heart. I thank Him for giving me exceeding abundantly more than I could ever have asked or imagined. He has been so faithful to me.

If you’re praying for something that your heart to greatly desires, keep praying God’s will. Don’t loose heart; have faith and diligently seek the Lord! I hope that one day, you can heart Jesus quietly whisper to your heart, “thy faith hath made thee whole.”
