Proverbs 31:30 says, “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.”
Ladies, this may be a touchy subject to discuss, but this is something that the Lord has been dealing with me recently and has laid heavily on my heart. Know that everything that I am about to say is from a humble, burdened heart, and NOT a judgmental one. With everything that I say, I am not just talking to you, I’m PREACHING TO MYSELF, as well.
As I continue to grow up in this world, the more I realize that there are fewer and fewer girls who actually act like the young ladies God intended them to be. There are no longer any standards. Anything goes. “Its my body, I’ll do what I want with it,” you may say, but you’re wrong. Sisters, we’ve been bought with a price and the Lord calls us to honor Him with our bodies (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
Since its getting warmer, we naturally want to wear less clothes, but its gotten to the point where some of us might as well just not wear any at all. The struggle is real. Whats crossing the line and whats not? I’ve personally struggled with the definition of modesty and what is appropriate. 1 Timothy 2:9-10 says, “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; but with good works.” Now everyone’s definition of modesty is different, but if I wouldn’t wear it to church or if I’m not sure, I probably shouldn’t be wearing it. Sister, if you’re trying to dress less to impress a guy, don’t sell yourself short! You want a guy to notice you because of who you are in Christ and your character, not because of how you’ve dressed. There is a difference in being beautiful and hot. You want to be beautiful! I encourage you to pray and seek God about the way you dress, because we should all want the way that we dress to glorify Him.
Boundaries girls!!! Boundaries!!!!!! If you’re in a relationship, you need to be careful not to awaken love early! (Song of Solomon 8:4) In a relationship it is very important to have boundaries out of respect for yourself, your guy, and most of all, the Lord. You do not want to do something that you’ll later regret! Even though you may not be doing anything “wrong,” it may sound cheesy, but really, leave room for Jesus! Our flesh is weak and temptation is very real, so do everything you can to avoid them! Stay pure! You’ll be rewarded for it!
I love music and movies as much as the next girl, but in the world we live in, we have to be very careful of what we choose to listen to and watch. We may not realize it, but if we put garbage in, garbage comes out! We need to keep our minds and hearts as pure as our bodies! Its very hard, because we all want to be in the loop about the newest music and movies, but if its not glorifying to God, its not going to do us any good. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
I’m right here with you in this fight trying to determine what is right and almost right. I’m preaching to myself, because the Lord is still refining me and continuing to teach me all of these things. My heart is that God will raise us up as a generation of God-fearing Proverbs 31 young ladies! In a world full of Kylie Jenner’s and Cardi B’s, be a God-honoring, God-fearing young lady! God calls us to be set apart! So let’s stand out!
